The ACTS group agreed today that running forwards was much easier than backwards!
As we then pondered Philippians 3: 13-14 Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus everyone was able to think of things they were proud of now and goals for the future. We agreed that achieving these would be easier if we were not repeatedly looking back to past failures or disappointments, but focusing on what God has given us gifts to do.
What a fantastic time we had as the WHOLE congregation supported a giant Pokemon GO style message spelling out THE WORLD IS IN OUR HANDS. There was lots of fun working out which card should be joined with streamers to the next one, turning our card ‘Pokestops’ pink, ‘releasing’ Pokemon at the ends of words and finding sweets. Thanks to everyone for pitching in to make it fun and helping us note that while Pokemon puts lots of magical creatures around us and gives us lots of things to collect, we already have the gift of a wonderful world and the tools to look after it if we all join together.
The ACTs group enjoyed a sticky exploration of Psalm 119; v 33-35 and the importance of having a recipe for life.
A large (but silently shrinking!) bowl of marshmallows helped the ACTs team ponder today’s verses from Luke 16: 10-12
10 Whoever is faithful in small matters will be faithful in large ones; whoever is dishonest in small matters will be dishonest in large ones. 11 If, then, you have not been faithful in handling worldly wealth, how can you be trusted with true wealth? 12 And if you have not been faithful with what belongs to someone else, who will give you what belongs to you?
We discussed the wealth of talents we each have and celebrity examples of those who have made the most of their talents and others who have not. Thanks to our two newest members for their excellent contribution to this, despite the mayhem of molten chocolate!
The Noah’s Ark and Red Sea Clubs are enjoying building a beautiful display illustrating the story of Issac and Jacob -with 3D sheep!.
The ACTs group had a great (and pretty competitive!) time hunting all over to find the missing coins, and even more fun eating them! A fun way to think about Luke 15: 8-10. Lots more chocolate capers planned for this session!
Games, great conversation, high energy bouncing and the best meringues in Bothwell made for a wonderful family garden party, marking the start of the new season for our youth clubs. Thanks to all, especially our Minister, his wife and family for their hard work to make it possible and for welcoming us into their garden (even if the newest member of the family would quite have liked the bouncy castle all to herself!)
After a great summer break, your friends in the ACTS team are full of energy and looking forward to lots of new fun together on Sunday 14th August at 10.30.
This year we are going back to the previous format of beginning the meeting in the Church so come and join us there, before we go to the halls.
This week we are making our own game to play at next week’s summer family party as well as awarding the SUMMER COMPETITION PRIZES!
The Group were on form today catching all those elusive Pokemons that were hiding around Bothwell.
Don’t miss our next ‘Pokemon Go’ Prowl next Sunday!
Microbots have taken our ACTs group captive for the summer!
They are insisting on having a really active time with their chosen group member.
They are competing to see who can have the funniest picture, be the farthest travelled, go to the most unusual place and who will visit the most churches outside of Bothwell!
